Spring is fast approaching (finally), with slightly drier weather hopefully on the forecast and the bulbs and hedges beginning to bud, join us here at the The Rusty Axe where we have lot’s to look forward to in 2020.

Well, we are nearly at the end of DRY January for those that managed to avoid alcohol for the 31 days of January, the weather hopefully drying up and spring bulbs and hedges beginning to bud, here at The Rusty we have been busy sorting out our next few months events and offers. Not quite looking at the ‘C’ word again yet but we are 4 months into the year of planning ideas and events that we hope you will enjoy!

Our seasonal menus are being created as we speak with Spring time offerings incorporating local and seasonal ingredients. The new menus will be available to view on the website soon.

As ever Sue will be concentrating on using seasonal, fresh, local and sustainable produce within her menus, focusing on using high quality ingredients and preparing and making everything in house, with a change of season on it’s way, Sue is busy deciding on a great seasonal menu that will have you springing out to grab a bite to eat,  including some firm favourites and new dishes sure to bring the notion of Springtime to the plate.

For all new customers that won’t have visited before, we have overhauled the main bar, dinning area and kitchen, which now caters for all, serving great food, an extensive drinks menu, wines from around the world and some great local ales and ciders.

As an extension to the friendly, warmth of the bar area, we have  the all singing, all dancing Gin Bar stocking at present approx 20 different gins and premium spirits and longe area, located within our newly refurbished dining room, in our opinion a great asset to The Rusty Axe.

The whole inn having undergone new decor and modernisation to create a perfect drinking and dining experience for all, whether an intimate dinner for two or a family gathering, we are sure that we can accommodate all our customers needs and requirements.

We are now on full service from the kitchen with an array of dishes to suit all, with our family friendly bar menu, our one, two and three course menus, evening menus, specials board and Sunday lunch menus, we look forward to welcoming you soon.

VALENTINES DAY   –  Friday 14th February.

Treat your loved one to an evening treat here, with a lovingly prepared three course valentine themed menu. 2 Courses £25.00 and 3 Courses £35.00

GIN REVIVAL NIGHT   –  Friday 28th February

A great evening planned with a gin master to showcase a fine selection of superior gins and mixers, masterclass to perfect your gin knowledge and plenty of Gin tasting. We will be serving canapés and attendees with take home goody bags. To find out more and book your tickets, get in touch. £16 a ticket.

MOTHERS DAY  –  Sunday 22nd March

Treat mum with Sunday Lunch, keep her sweet to look after you for another year. Bookings advisable.

EASTER WEEKEND  –  Friday 10th – Sunday 12th April

With Fish on Good Friday, Special offers on Saturday and Easter Sunday Lunch or perhaps an Easter Sunday Afternoon Tea with Prosecco (optional).


VIP THURSDAY –  VIP Specials for our Over 60’s. 2 Courses for £10.00. Bookings advisable.


PUDDING CLUB –  Every month with our first one this Wednesday 29th January 7.30pm, dates to be confirmed for February and March.


CHEESE NIGHT; Every 3rd Wednesday 7.30pm. Next cheese night; Wednesday 19th February


THE RUSTY AXE BIG BREAKFAST – Every 3rd Saturday of the month we do breakfast from 9.30am to 11.30am.  

Forthcoming dates include the 15th February, 21st March, 18th April and 16th May.


Coming soon with dates to be confirmed, we will be organising themed menu nights with Spice it up with a ‘Curry Night’, cibo così buono ‘Italian Family Evening,

Chin, Chang, Chong, Chinese Night and all time British favourite ‘Fish and Chip’ Supper with mushy peas and curry sauce to name a few, suggestions are always welcome on our theme night ideas.



VIP THURSDAY –  VIP Specials for our Over 60’s. 2 Courses for £10.00. Bookings advisable.

HAPPY HOUR or 2. Our Happy Hour every Wednesday and Thursday evenings are worth a visit, from 5.30pm – 7.30pm.

‘Dry’ January was a long month so make up for it in February with our super deals on firm favourites Wednesday and Thursday early evening.

FISH AND CHIPS – Weekday lunchtime special available Tuesday to Friday.

TRADITIONAL SUNDAY LUNCH – Served every Sunday lunch from midday to 3/3.30pm.

Pop out for food with the family, perhaps a lazy sundae afternoon where no one has to cook.

Enjoy a traditional delicious roast with all the trimmings, lashings of rich gravy and fluffy but crisp roasties here at the Rusty Axe.
