Stay Alert : Control the Virus : Save Lives

◊ Keep a Safe Distance from others.

◊ Wash your hands and/or use hand sanitiser regularly whilst outside your home. Wash your hands the moment you arrive home.

◊ Think of others.

Well this wasn’t what any of us thought 2020 would be like is it?

A spring into summer lockdown to protect our NHS and save lives was not on many people’s mind at  the beginning of March, however as we begin to live in a new normal with many restrictions lifted, will we see a return to normality before the end of the year?

100 days of lockdown and still many shielding, limiting time spent outside the home, lack of social interaction, for many, full time education has been abandoned and the retail and hospitality sectors taking a direct hit and only just beginning to open their doors under many new rules and regulations.

Having lived through the lockdown as a nation we have adjusted to a very unfamiliar lifestyle of laws and guidelines that were put in place to keep us as safe as possible. The devastating loss of lives, the uncertainty and not knowing and trying to keep ourselves, family and friends safe has been no mean feat, however we did cope with the new restrictions to daily life and can now be thankful that moving forwards we can start to resume a sense of normality going into the peak of summer.  Hopefully for many within hospitality and leisure sector, the likelihood that many more of us will be staying home this summer, we can help to rebuild our local economies by supporting businesses within our country, taking ‘staycations’, enjoying days and meals out with family in our own regions to help local businesses begin to recover.

As one of the many, many businesses that closed their doors, we have felt the knock on effects and will continue to do so until normality is restored hopefully before we leave 2020 behind.

We have now reopened The Rusty Axe and hope to see familiar faces and new customers, we have put into place safety measures and guidelines for our customers and staff to follow, ensuring everyone feels safe and protected whilst in our company. (We have a dedicated page for you to view guidelines that must be adhered too Covid – 19 guidance.)

Opening Wednesday to Sunday with all day opening Friday to Sunday and serving food during opening times including delicious seasonal menu, a take away menu, authentic Italian stone baked pizza from our new pizza oven, afternoon tea and takeaway buffet service.

Whilst we have been closed, we have been busy doing jobs around the pub to make it a warm and welcoming place to visit for all our customers. Plenty of gardening done, painting and touching up to ensure that the pub is looking its best. Menus and events are being planned with dates pending due to restrictions still in place.

We look forward to seeing regular, old and new customers as the restrictions are lifted and we can resume business, we have reopened since Saturday 4th July and thank all our customers that have already visited, it’s great to finally be open and back delivering great service, food and drink to our customers.

To ensure we continue on the up, leaving the last 100 days in the past, it is very important that we all remember to adhere to the guidelines and regulations that are in place so we can all move forwards and return to normal before the end of 2020.

Our best regards, The Rusty Axe.

We’ve been as busy as ever here at The Rusty sorting out our next few months events and offers. Not quite looking at the ‘C’ word again yet but we are 6 months into the year of planning ideas and events that we hope you will enjoy!

Our seasonal menus are always designed to incorporate local and seasonal ingredients.  As ever Sue concentrates on using seasonal, fresh, local and sustainable produce within her menus, focusing on using high quality ingredients and preparing and making everything in house, with every change of season on it’s way!

Great seasonal menu’s that will have you deciding to pop out to grab a bite to eat, including some firm favourites and new dishes sure to bring seasonality to the plate.

For all new customers that won’t have visited before, we have overhauled the main bar, dinning area and kitchen, which now caters for all, serving great food, an extensive drinks menu, wines from around the world and some great local ales and ciders.

As an extension to the friendly, warmth of the bar area, we have  the all singing, all dancing Gin Bar stocking at present approx 20 different gins and premium spirits and longe area, located within our newly refurbished dining room, in our opinion a great asset to The Rusty Axe.

The whole inn having undergone new decor and modernisation to create a perfect drinking and dining experience for all, whether an intimate dinner for two or a family gathering, we are sure that we can accommodate all our customers needs and requirements.

We are now on full service from the kitchen with an array of dishes to suit all, with our family friendly bar menu, our one, two and three course menus, evening menus, specials board and Sunday lunch menus, we look forward to welcoming you soon.
