Well this wasn’t what any of us thought 2020 would be like is it?

A spring into summer lockdown to protect our NHS and save lives was not on many people’s mind at  the beginning of March, however into week 4 of the lockdown and as a nation we are adjusting to very unfamiliar guidelines to keep us as safe as possible. The devastating loss of lives, the uncertainty and not knowing and trying to keep ourselves, family and friends safe is no mean feat, however we are now coping with our new restrictions to daily life and look forward to being free of the lockdown when the time comes.

As one of the many, many businesses that have closed for the foreseeable future, we have felt the knock on effects, however we feel that it is in the best interests of ourselves, the community and well being of each individual that we follow the guidelines set out for us.

We have closed The Rusty Axe completely to ensure all social distancing measures are implemented. We have decided to discontinue with our take away service as we feel that it is a non essential service, by doing this we are stopping deliveries to the pub of food supplies, extra travelling (journeys) for supplies and less social contact. The knock on effect means we have limited our need to use these valuable services at the present time, we hope our customers understand the reasoning behind our decision.

Whilst we are closed, we are busy doing jobs around the pub to make it a warm and welcoming place to visit soon. Plenty of gardening done, painting and touching up to ensure that the pub is looking its best for reopening. Menus and events are being planned with dates pending. We are looking into a reopening night event so keep an eye out for this information via our facebook and website pages.

We look forward to seeing regular, old and new customers upon opening as soon as the restrictions are lifted and we can resume business.

In the meanwhile please STAY HOME, STAY WELL AND STAY SAFE.

Our best regards, The Rusty Axe.

We’ve been as busy as ever here at The Rusty sorting out our next few months events and offers. Not quite looking at the ‘C’ word again yet but we are 6 months into the year of planning ideas and events that we hope you will enjoy!

Our seasonal menus are always designed to incorporate local and seasonal ingredients.  As ever Sue concentrates on using seasonal, fresh, local and sustainable produce within her menus, focusing on using high quality ingredients and preparing and making everything in house, with every change of season on it’s way!

Great seasonal menu’s that will have you deciding to pop out to grab a bite to eat, including some firm favourites and new dishes sure to bring seasonality to the plate.

For all new customers that won’t have visited before, we have overhauled the main bar, dinning area and kitchen, which now caters for all, serving great food, an extensive drinks menu, wines from around the world and some great local ales and ciders.

As an extension to the friendly, warmth of the bar area, we have  the all singing, all dancing Gin Bar stocking at present approx 20 different gins and premium spirits and longe area, located within our newly refurbished dining room, in our opinion a great asset to The Rusty Axe.

The whole inn having undergone new decor and modernisation to create a perfect drinking and dining experience for all, whether an intimate dinner for two or a family gathering, we are sure that we can accommodate all our customers needs and requirements.

We are now on full service from the kitchen with an array of dishes to suit all, with our family friendly bar menu, our one, two and three course menus, evening menus, specials board and Sunday lunch menus, we look forward to welcoming you soon.

We are always on the look out for staff that would be an asset to our team, whether kitchen, front of house or bar, drop us an email or give us a ring and enquire.
